Description of My WebQuest:This webquest is an individual assignment that will have you investigating what the real world is all about. You will have to determine what exactly are your NEEDS and WANTS and your goal is to set up a monthly budget for all of lifes expected and unexpected expenses. Remember "It's Your Life". In this webquest you will be learning all about the real world and how to manage your all of your hard earned money. You have been given a career and your biweekly salary. Using this information you will have to go through the process of creating a monthly budget. While doing so you should keeep in mind what exactly those "NEEDS" and "WANTS" are and you will need to prepare yourself for all of lifes expected and unexpected expenses.
My WebQuest:www.zunal.com/webquest.php?w=52497 Process for Determining Topic:The reason that I selected the topic that I did was because over the past few years in my class I have tried to incorporate a “Money Math” or financial unit where my students are given careers and a salary and they then have to write out bills and learn all about working with money. This is something that I have had in mind to do with my students for some time now but just never had to opportunity or even knew how to develop a webquest. I have researched many webquests before but I am glad that I have had the opportunity to develop this webquest and make it my very own. I really think that this is a topic that my students will really enjoy and gain a lot of knowledge from as well. Reflection:I have worked with webquests briefly in my past and I really thought that they would be something that I would be interested in using in my classroom. My only problem has been that I was never really sure how to develop an effective webquest. I now feel that I am better prepared and knowledgeable about what is involved in the webquest creation process. I really like the fact that we were introduced to www.zunal.com because I can now begin to create more webquest for use in my very own classroom. I have researched webquests so many times before but the only problem is that you are not able to change things if you don’t like the way they are written. Now I can take ideas from others that I like and incorporate those into my very own. Not only have I become more familiar with the process of writing a webquest but by creating a webquest it really forces you to make sure that all aspects of the lesson are accurate from the directions to the website resources, to the rubric. I really found this project very helpful for my in my future of teaching in today’s world of increasing technology.
